James W. “Jim” Shobe, Jr., 76, of Tiffin, passed away on Monday, July 03, 2023 at Mercy Health-Tiffin Hospital.
He was born on March 08, 1947, in Tiffin, Ohio, to James W., Sr. and Lois (Barton) Shobe. On July 29, 1967, he married Joan Lovejoy.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Shobe of Tiffin; daughter, Heather (Mitch McKeen) Shobe of Tiffin; sister, Patricia Hepperly of Findlay; and three grandchildren, Cody, Abigail and Isaha.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim was a 1965 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School and attended Heidelberg College and Bowling Green State University. He served in the Army National Guard from 1966 -1972 and was a police officer for the Tiffin Police Department from 1968 to 1986, retiring as a Sergeant. After retiring from the police department, he was a photographer and IT guy for the Advertiser-Tribune for 23 years. He was a lifetime member of the AmVets Post 48 and member of the United Veterans Council Honor Guard. Jim was a 39 plus year member of the Tiffin Masonic Lodge #77 and member of the Seneca Chapter #42, Clinton Council #47, and the Demolay Commandery #9. Jim enjoyed fishing, woodworking, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle thousands of miles, wintering in Florida and RVing,. He had many Great Danes over the years and loved his Boxer, Sarge.
His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 08, 2023 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Pastor Charlene Thomas officiating. Masonic Services will be conducted at 12:45 P.M.
Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the Service on Saturday at the Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank the ER Department at Mercy Health-Tiffin Hospital, St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima and Tiffin Rehabilitation Center.
