James W. “Jim” Clouse, 88, of New Riegel, passed away on Wednesday, October 04, 2023, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
He was born on January 21, 1935, in Tiffin to William and Ida (Bouillon) Clouse and on September 26, 1959, he married Imelda L. “Millie” Wise in a double ceremony with Millie’s sister and brother-in-law, Adaline and Leo Heitz.
Survivors include his sons, Gene Clouse of Carey and Jerry Clouse of Alvada; daughters, Carol (Gary) Conley of Tiffin and Rosemary (Dan) Schalk and Mary Ann (Brian) Zoeller, both of New Riegel; 12 grandchildren; Greg Schalk, Monica Westenbarger, Merissa Perry, Jordan Clouse, Meranda Clouse, Kristen Hess, Brittany Smith, Nathan Schalk, Lauren Zoeller, Brad Zoeller, Nick Zoeller, Zach Zoeller and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Imelda Clouse in 2014; infant granddaughter, Brooke E. Zoeller in 2003; brothers, Alvin, Firman, Walter, and Herman; sisters, Esther Strausbaugh, Emma Gase, Irene Beaudry, Alvera Kin, and Helen Holman.
Jim was a member of All Saints Parish, New Riegel and volunteered for years at the parish festival. He was drafted in 1954 into the U.S. Army serving until 1956. Jim was a hard and dedicated worker throughout his life, working at area slaughterhouses and butchering at his home. He also worked at Atlas Crankshaft in the 1960’s, Hayes-Albion in Tiffin until he retired in 1985 and continued his plumbing and electrical trade over the years. He was a member of the New Riegel American Legion, enjoyed playing Euchre and Square Dancing. Jim liked to travel to a destination as quickly as he could and turn around and travel back just as quickly. In April 2023, he was able to be on the Honor Flight. Everyone who knew Jim has a great story, a fond memory, and a special place in their heart for a great guy.
His Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at All Saints Parish, New Riegel, with Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery with military honors by the New Riegel American Legion.
