James "Jim" W. Laugherty

James W. Laugherty, 51, of Tiffin passed away Saturday morning April 16, 2022, at the Bridge Hospice Inpatient Unit at the Wood County Hospital after a yearlong battle with cancer.

On April 17, 1970, in Tiffin, he was born to Kenneth and Sharon (Chaney) Laugherty.  He married Kelly R. Hickman on August 12, 1988.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Kelly; daughters, Alissa (Richard) Kelley of Tiffin; Andrea (Nathan) Barney of Sycamore; Angie (Zach) Young of Tiffin; five grandchildren, Maddie, RJ, Lucas, Jaxson, Chandler and a granddaughter, Adrienne expect any day and two sisters, Lavenda Baker and Jennifer (Dion) Tey both of Fostoria and was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth on August 7, 2012.

Jim was a 1988 graduate of Hopewell Loudon High School and attended Terra State.  Over the years, he worked at Basic Refractories, Atcole, Tech Serv. and currently at Revere Plastics in Clyde the past 15 years.  He specialized in Automation Technology but was a great mechanical/electrical engineer and troubleshooter.  He was passionate about his work, always thinking how to solve problems.  He even built a robot out of scrap parts in his free time.  Jim was a sports fan, Cleveland Browns fan, grillmaster, fisherman and expert lawn guy.  His family meant everything to him, his grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Friends may visit and share stories with the family on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 4-7 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St. in Tiffin.  The funeral will be Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Tress  Reed officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery.
