Joan Brinkman (Fulton), 86, of Tiffin passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, October 15, 2020 at Mercy Hospital.
She was born on June 16, 1934 in Tiffin Ohio to Marla (Lust) Fulton and Francis Fulton. On August 15, 1954, she married Ned Brinkman, her high school sweetheart. They were married 63 years and had a wonderful like together, traveling the world and always enjoying their family gatherings.
Survivors include her sister Lila Boehler of Lyndhurst, Ohio, her son Brad Brinkman, daughter Jane (David) Rouse of Wisconsin, five grandchildren, William and James Brinkman and Ryan, Natalie and Emily Rouse, one great grandchild, Jameson Brinkman and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. (A special thank you to Shelly and Breezy for their continued love and support in her final hours; her other caregivers Gwen, Kari, Kathy and Kendra also provide exceptional care and by whom she collectively and fondly called “her girls”.
Joan graduated in 1952 from Tiffin Columbian High School and then attended Heidelberg. She and Ned also lived in Iceland during his time in the military. While in Tiffin, she became an avid golfer like her husband, was active in Y-Wives and caught the decorating bug that would later become her passion. She had a keen eye for color and arrangements. She continued her success in interior design at Porters of Racine and modeled clothes for a local bridal shop when they later relocated to Wisconsin. You could always pick out mom at church-with her well-chosen hat to match her outfit! Learning that she was expecting grand-daughters, she vowed and keep her promise to buy them matching outfits and all the necessary girl accessories. She especially enjoyed giving all her grandchildren a “Hearts Desire Day”, allowing them to shop with Nana and select a special gift on their own. After retirement, they returned to Tiffin, Ohio but not before vowing frequent and regular trips back to Wisconsin to see her family. She was a loving and kind person and will be deeply missed.
Due to the pandemic, a private burial will be held.
Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
