Joan M. (Herbert) Nesselhauf

Joan M. Nesselhauf, 74, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 29, 2020 at St. Francis Home.

On May 16, 1945 in Tiffin, she was born to Louis and Marjorie (Elchert) Herbert. She married Marvin T. Nesselhauf on November 19, 1966 at St. Joseph Catholic Church by Rev. James K. Say.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin T. Nesselhauf of Tiffin; son and daughter-in-law, Barney and Rene Nesselhauf of Tiffin; six grandchildren, Melissa (Gary Brewer) Garcia, Rachel (Jonathon) Ragle, Devin Nesselhauf, Elizabeth Zoeller, Gage Lange and Madison Nesselhauf; five great grandchildren, Aiden, Adrianna, Angel, Pixie, and Sammi; sisters, Lois (Dave) Bihn and Jan Herbert both of Tiffin; sisters in law, Jan (Bob) Daniel of Rochester, NY and Kay (Michael) Paul of Sayre, PA;  many nieces and nephews; and her dog, Zander.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Rebecca L. Nesselhauf in 2017 and brothers, William and James Herbert.

Joan was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a 1963 graduate of Tiffin Calvert.  She worked for the Seneca County Clerk of Courts for a few years and later stayed at home raising her children.  While her children were growing up, she ran Joan’s Cakes and Candy out of her home and returned to the Clerk of Courts, retiring December 31, 2003, after 27 years.  She was active in Al-Anon for years, was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed getting together for lunch with the Court House Gang and classmates from 1963.  Joan loved being around her grandchildren, taking trips to Amish Country, Allen Eiry and JB Tour trips and shopping.

A Private family Mass will take place with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.  Burial will be Friday, April 3, 2020 at 11:15 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Francis Home, Calvert Catholic Schools or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
