He was born on May 27, 1931, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Joseph L. and Rose A. (Scherger) Brickner.  On May 7, 1966, he married Louisa I. Michaels and she preceded him in death on January 17, 2019.

Survivors include his son, Matthew John Brickner of Tiffin; daughters, Anne (Christian) Klauke of Tiffin, Jennifer Brickner of Naperville, IL and Elizabeth (Scott) Sauppe of Temperance, MI; sisters, Mary Hassanein of Laguna Niguel, CA, and Theresa Streacker of Findlay; and five grandchildren, Alex (Gabbi), Cameron, Jacob, Claire and Maxwell.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert, Joseph, Louis, Mark and Jerome; and sisters, Catherine LaFontain and Sr. Mary Quintin, SND.

John graduated in 1949 from Jackson-Liberty High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  He retired in 1997, after 40 years, from Clyde Whirlpool and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where he attended Mass regularly.  John was a history buff, enjoyed playing cards, being at home, watching documentaries, working on home projects and his lawn and was proud of his grandchildren.

His Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Radar officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.
