John Roger Munn, 85, of Tiffin, passed into eternity at 3:20 A.M. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Bridge Hospice Care, Findlay with some of his family surrounding him.
He was born on June 21, 1937, at home in the Southeast Ohio hilly town of Barton, Ohio. He was the second child of four born to Herbert and Ann (Stropki) Munn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Don, Herb and Dianna Rooks; and great grandson, Declan Brokaw.
John graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1955. He had the lead in the Senior class play with his part being a principal. After high school, John joined the United States Marine Corp in November of 1955. He was stationed for the most part in Okinawa and was honorably discharged in November of 1958 as a Sergeant.
In July of 1959, he met and later married Judith Imhoff on July 1, 1961, in Rocky River, Ohio. It was a match made in heaven.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Munn of Tiffin; children, Kelly Munn of Cortland, Scott (Therese) Munn of England and Rachel (Brian) Briggs of Tiffin; five grandchildren, Marshall (Katie) Goss of Hubbard, Mandi (Mike) Brokaw of Austintown, Zack (Alex) Goss of Austintown, Megan Briggs of Baltimore, MD and Joshua (Erin) Briggs of Tiffin; and 10 great grandchildren.
He did many things with his offspring and loved them very much.
In 1968, John began studying Social Studies at Kent State University. The family lived in Streetsboro. He graduated in 1972 and began his career at West Jr. High, Columbian High School and East Jr. High. He was a hardworking, respected, and dedicated teacher, retiring in 1994.
John enjoyed many things, including traveling, telling jokes, writing poetry, being with family and friends, playing cards, Silver Sneakers and watching baseball, football and basketball.
He was active at Faith United Methodist Church (a lifelong Methodist). At Church, he was chairperson of the Ad. Council, on the staff parish committee, evangelist committee, adult Sunday school (taught some) and their softball team.
A private Celebration of Life was held and interment was in the Columbarium at Faith United Methodist Church.
