Joyce E. Drake, 93, of Tiffin, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at The Willows at Tiffin.
She was born on September 15, 1929, in Fostoria, Ohio to Harold and Elnora (Kuebler) Needles. On November 27, 1949, she married Robert R. Schatzinger and he preceded her in death in 1974. On May 01, 1987, she married Marion O. Drake, Jr. and he preceded her in death in 2021.
Survivors include her son, Dan (Susan) Schatzinger of Tiffin; daughter, Pam Ley of Norwalk; six grandchildren, Nicole (Chris) Edwards, Colin (Janelle) Schatzinger, Aaron Schatzinger, Alexa (Kyle) Heminger, Ian Ley and Ashtyn Ley; eleven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; three stepchildren, Rosemary (Mark) Cullison, Catherine McIntyre and Thresa (Kris) Fuller; seven step grandchildren; and three step great grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Tim Schatzinger; brother, Jimmie Needles; sisters, Joanne Ellis and Faith Boff; and grandson, Andrew Schatzinger.
Joyce was a 1947 graduate of Fostoria High School. She was the owner of Sarah Coventry Jewelry for over 25 years and was a Realtor at Century 21 and Coldwell Bankers for over 30 years. Joyce was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, sang in the Church choir and helped with funeral luncheons. She was also a member of Ladies of the Moose, enjoyed Bunko Club, playing cards, camping, boating and spending time at Lake Erie. Joyce loved spending time with her family for birthdays, holidays or anytime.
Her Funeral Service will be at 11:30 A.M. on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Faith United Methodist Church, 75 N. Sandusky Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883, with Rev. Amy Vittorio and Joyce’s nephew, Sr. Pastor Bryan Schatzinger co-officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 1-3:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 and from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the service at Church on Monday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Methodist Church or to ProMedica Heartland Hospice.
