Lambert H. Gassner, Jr., 86, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 at his daughter's home in Lancaster.
On November 1, 1934 in Tiffin, he was born to Lambert H. and Ida (Pearson) Gassner,Sr. He married his sweetheart, Regina M. Werling on April 25, 1959 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include his children, Timothy J. (Annette) Gassner of Tiffin; John J. Gassner of Columbus; Christine M. Gassner of Portage, MI; Annette M. (Harry) Wendland of Byron Center, MI; Diana A. (John) Hrib and David A. (Lydia) Gassner both of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; Kimberly (Doug) Wilkinson of Lancaster, OH; Kathleen M. (Kerry) Dungan of Upper Arlington; OH; 13 grandchildren, Nicholas Gassner, Jacklyn Krabach, Aaron Gassner, Briana Wendland, Eric Wendland, Elizabeth Gassner, George Gassner, Hope Gassner, Leanna Hrib, Marissa Wilkinson, James Wilkinson, Audrey Dungan, Claire Dungan, three great grandchildren, a brother, Neil Gassner of Tiffin; sisters, Janene (Chuck) Giles and Ruth (Gerald) Buchman both of Tiffin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife Regina on August 20, 2019.
Lambert was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Tiffin Calvert, class of 1953 and went to the Chicago Coyns Trade School for electronics. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on October 26, 1956 and was a Radio Specialist 4th Class stationed at Fort Hood until his discharge on October 24, 1958. He worked for General Electric and retired in 1986, after 27 years. He enjoyed staying busy, volunteering to set up at the St. Joseph Festival, donating many gallons to the American Red Cross for years, hiking, camping, gardening, feeding the birds and most of all, just being outdoors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 11, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. The mass will be live streamed at https://boxcast.tv/view/lambert-gassner-funeral-o7jscwzl831w4fr1apvv. Burial will follow with Military Honors by the United Veterans Council at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
A private visitation will be held for the family.
