Larry Hodge Obituary

Larry L. Hodge, 80, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022 in the Emergency Room at Mercy Health-Tiffin Hospital.

He was born on the Hodge family farm on February 5, 1942, to Kenneth L. and Myrtle I (Goodwin) Hodge.

He is survived by his son, Chris Hodge of Bellevue; sister, Janet (David) Phelps of Dayton; and brother, Kenneth (Kimberly) Hodge of Butler, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 54 years, Wanda E. (Drayer) Hodge on May 12, 2019.

Larry graduated from Austinburg High School in 1960 and then earned a bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1964 and has additional degrees from Miami and The University of Toledo.

Larry spent 57 years in public education as a teacher, coach and principal, serving schools in College Corner, Ohio and the EHOVE Career Center in Milan, Ohio.  His career included an Educational Consultant position in the Bellevue schools and at The River Valley Schools in Caledonia, Ohio.

Larry also taught summers as an adjunct professor at Ashland University, teaching Professional Development and Curriculum Development.  Larry was a regular keynote speaker at various conferences in Ohio and at Chicago NCA meetings, dealing with curriculum and student discipline.  He was honored as Principal of the Year by the Ohio School Counselors Association in 1995 and in 1997 and was the recipient of The J.C. Penny Volunteer in Education Award.

Larry was an avid high school, college and Cleveland Indians sport fan.

His Graveside Service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Pleasant Union Cemetery, Old Fort  with Pastor Clayton Bailey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tiffin-Seneca Public Library.
