Leonard Risner Obituary

Leonard Alden “The Lenny” Risner, 66, of Tiffin, Ohio, passed away Wednesday October 17, 2018.   He was surrounded by his family and friends that loved him dearly.

He was the son of William and Margie Risner of Fostoria and was born August 11, 1952. Lenny is survived by his soul mate, Deborah (Rosendale) Risner. They have four “Ducks” whom he cherished and loved with all his heart:  Mysteque, and her husband, Steve Thompson of Columbus Ohio, Axle, and his wife, Erin Risner of Findlay Ohio, Roman Risner, of Columbus Ohio, Britanie Risner of Columbus, Dustyn and his wife, Kristen Risner of Columbus, Ohio and Special Niece, Brittany (Rosendale) and husband, Doug Stork of Perrysburg, Ohio.  He has 11 Grand Ducks Laken, Cael, Landon, Rush, Ashlyn, Kaitlyn, Brielle, Owen, Coltyn, Jackson and Beau, that he loved very much; and Charlie…  He is survived by his Mother, Margie Risner; brother, Keith and his wife Lois Risner of Tiffin Ohio; his sister, Joyce and husband, Jim Linter of Fostoria Ohio.  He has many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly and spoiled.

He is preceded in death by his father, William Risner; brother Owen Risner; and sister, Holly McConnell.

Lenny graduated from Fostoria High School in 1970.  After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served his country.  Leonard worked for Chrysler Corporation and General Dynamics for 42 years and retired due to medical conditions.   Lenny was a fighter.  In 2003, after being diagnosed with Liver Cancer, he received his first liver transplant and subsequent second liver transplant in 2008 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Ne.  He was accused many times of having 9 lives.

One of the favorite parts of his life was coaching his sons and watching his daughter participate in sports and activities. He coached little league baseball and Junior High Basketball,  winning numerous championships over the years, including taking a team to the Little League World Series in Arlington, TX. Though he never had the opportunity to play sports growing up, Lenny was a fierce competitor that challenged his players, taught toughness and dedication that left its mark on so many.   He was Macho, yet loving.  Competitive, yet balanced. Stern, yet fair. Reserved, yet sarcastic.  Guarded, yet trusting. Feared, yet respected. Proud, yet humbled.  A fighter and protector and Loyal to his core.   He loved his “Debita, and his Ducks and Ducklings”.

Lenny also loved traveling to his condo in Florida and hanging at the McMansion at Catawba Island with friends and family.  He never saw a dandelion that he didn’t pick. (Especially at his neighbors).   He had a passion for sports and was an avid Cleveland Brown’s and Indian’s fan; but he loved the CAV’s, and LeBron James.  One of the best times we had was getting to watch LeBron in the playoffs in a suite at the Q.  Lenny never met a stranger. He had a place in his heart for his special friends in his life especially his God Parents, our Lake House family and Keke & Lolo.  He will be forever missed.
