Marjorie M. (Doran) Detterman

Marjorie M. Detterman, 100, of Tiffin, passed away on Sunday, July 09, 2023 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.

She was born on May 25, 1923, in Clinton Township, to Clifford and Grace (Snay) Doran.   On January 13, 1940, she married Dorsey Chaffee and he preceded her in death.  She then married Edson Detterman on October 23, 1961, and he also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter Martha Sours of Tiffin; sister, Betty Holt of Oregon, Ohio; two daughters-in-law, Faye Chaffee of Fremont and Kathy Chaffee of Reynoldsburg; 18 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Wayne Chaffee, Gary Chaffee and Terry Chaffee; daughters, Diane Hill and infant, Linda; sister, Evelyn Benner; brothers, Robert Doran, Richard Doran, Lloyd “Shorty” Doran; and Clifford “Juney” Doran, Jr. ;sons-in-law, Franklin Sours and Carroll Hill; and grandson, Brett Chaffee.

Marjorie was a short order cook and cleaned houses.  She enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, spending time with her family and loved cats and dogs.

Her Funeral Service will be at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Pastor Charlene Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bloomville.

Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Funeral on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Seneca County.
