Martha L. (Ball) Kent

Martha L. Kent, 74, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 8, 2020 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.

On December 27, 1945 in Tiffin; she was born to Oscar J. and Florence M. (Boes) Ball.

Survivors include her children, Regina (Jeff) Weber of Tiffin; Nick Kent of Tiffin; Michelle (Ron) Smith of Sycamore; Bryon (Jenny) Kent of Tiffin; two brothers, Art (Loretta) Ball and Larry (Liz) Ball both of Tiffin; sisters, Maggie Lee of Bloomdale; Rita Bohrer of Bloomville; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Joseph Ball, sisters, Eugenia Smith, Helen Stone, and Mary Reed.

Martha was a former member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Republic and currently a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  She graduated from Tiffin Calvert in 1963 and later earned a Master of Religious Education degree from Lourdes College.  Her faith, education, and caring heart guided her as a substitute teacher for Tiffin Calvert, St. Wendelin in Fostoria, and St. Bernard in New Washington and a volunteer at Mercy Hospital Gift Shop.  While at St. Aloysius, she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, Eucharistic Minister, cleaned the church, and taught CCD for many years at both churches.  Martha enjoyed reading, wintering in Florida with her sister, her dog Tasha and she especially loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her Funeral Service will be Friday, March 13, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424, with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit and share stories on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 5-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to Autumnwood Care Center, Freedom Hall for Activities.
