Martha (Hupfaver) Sager

Martha Sager, 93, of Tiffin, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2019 at her home.

She was born on December 18, 1925, in Munich, Germany to Hanz and Amalia Hupfaver and was the youngest of nine girls.  On May 16, 1963, she married Eugene L. Sager.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene L. Sager of Tiffin; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, all of Germany.

She was preceded in death by her parents and eight sisters.

Martha graduated from high school in Freising, Germany.  She moved to Tiffin in 1963 after meeting her husband, Eugene in Germany. Martha wanted to be buried as an American and became a United States Citizen at the age of 90, scoring a 100% on her test.  She enjoyed cooking, canning, baking for friends, neighbors, bake sales and church festivals, visiting friends and relatives over the years back in Germany and attending many Olympics throughout the World. 

Her Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.  Burial will follow in Farewell Retreat Cemetery in Republic.

Friends may visit with the family from 8:30 A.M. until the time of the Service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
