Matthew "Matt" S. Darby

Matthew "Matt" S. Darby, 44 of Republic, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 15, 2022 at Mercy Health-Tiffin Hospital.

He was born on August 27, 1977, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Stephen and Diann “De De” (Wilkinson) Darby. 

He is survived by his parents, Stephen and Diann Darby of Tiffin; sister, Amy (Tony) Gray of Flint, MI; nephew, Blake Benner of Flint, MI and niece, Maycee Benner of Flint MI; aunts and uncles, Sandy Darby and Cindy Darby, both of Westerville, Cindy Mullins of Bloomville, Tom and Linda Wilkinson of Mocksville, NC, Kyle and Jeff Hoyda of Tiffin and Annette and Michael Lutz of Findlay; best friends, Matt and Julie Ross of Huron; many friends, neighbors and co-workers.

He was preceded in death by his uncles, Dick Wilkinson and Hank Mullins; cousin, Sean Wilkinson; and brother-in-law, Chad Benner.

Matt was a 1996 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School.  After graduating, he went to Tiffin University, Heidelberg and then to The Ohio State University.  For the past year, Matt was a key account salesman for MSC.  Prior to that, he was a consultant with Zimmer Biomet, traveling throughout Ohio and Benco Dental as a dental supply salesman and consultant in Southern Ohio.  Matt owned Darby Farmstead, LLC, where he raised chickens, honey bees, loved gardening and riding around on his tractor.  He was a member of the NRA, was an avid shooter and enjoyed hunting, especially deer hunting in Pennsylvania with his friends.

A Celebration of Matt's life will be Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 1-4 PM at Tiffin Eagles 402, 68 Riverside Drive, Tiffin, Ohio 44883.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Britten J. Hess Memorial Scholarship Fund.
