Mervin L. Lofton, 92, of Tiffin, passed away on Friday evening, July 21, 2023 at his home.
He was born on September 16, 1930, in Bloomville, Ohio, to Chester and Mable (Shiley) Lofton. On April 11, 1952, he married Edna J. Adair and she preceded him in death on March 30, 1989.
Survivors include his sons, Kenneth (Julie) Lofton of Vanlue, Kevin Lofton of Tiffin and Scott (Lori) Lofton of New Albany; daughters, Jeanne Barnett and Dianna Criblez, both of Tiffin and Terri Stancil, of Reno, NV; daughter-in-law, Molly Lofton, Tiffin, 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and sister, Joyce Runion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mervin “Butch” Lofton, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Lottie Lofton; brothers, Ray Eldon, Dalton and Charles; sisters, Clarabelle Cantrell and Mary Fitch; and granddaughter, Amanda Criblez.
Mervin graduated in 1950 from Bloomville High School. In high school he was president of the Glee Club and captain of the baseball team. While in high school, he enlisted in the United States National Guard and served honorably from 1948 - 1966. In 1955, Mervin started working at Whirlpool and after 34 years, retired in 1989. He was a member of Tiffin Moose Lodge 846 and received the Assistant Secretary Award. Mervin enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, supporting his kids and grandkids activities and loved playing Hide-N-Seek with his grandkids.
His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 28, 2023 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 46 Madison Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883, with Pastor Charlene Thomas officiating.
Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Service on Friday at the Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice.
