Michael O. Thomas, Sr., 74, of Fostoria, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at his home.
He was born on March 4, 1946, in Avellino, Italy. His parents, Robert and Marjorie (Kinn) Thomas preceded him in death. On June 22, 1968, he married Judy Saxton.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Thomas of Fostoria; sons, Michael (Crystal) Thomas, II of Fostoria and Adam (Andrea) Thomas of Bellevue; daughter, Sarah (Brian Patrick) Burns of Fostoria; brother, Pompeo Palmieri of Italy; sisters, Mary Lynn (Burton) Geissman of New Washington and Maria Palmieri of Italy; grandchildren, Gage and Gyllian Burns, Oliver and Aubrey Thomas, Aleah (Alecia) Preston and Michael, III (Paula) Thomas; and great grandchildren, Kinsley Preston and Cole Carmen Thomas.
Michael graduated in 1965 from Lakota High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was an aide at the School of Opportunity, worked at numerous factories, was a salesman at Bill Mens and Wear in Fostoria and worked for the Bascom, Fostoria and Tiffin EMS. He was a member of All Saints Parish, New Riegel, former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bascom, where he was a CCD teacher and on the funeral committee. He was also a member of the Amvets Post 48, Ohio Archaeology Organization and the NRA. Michael enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, gardening and arrowhead hunting. Michael loved his family and was always with his wife, Judy.
His Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at All Saints Parish, New Riegel with Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. Burial will follow in Sandridge Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.
