Ralph C Lucius

Ralph C. Lucius, 79, of Tiffin, passed away on Friday afternoon, April 8, 2022, at St. Francis Home.

He was born on April 24, 1942, in Seneca County, to Aloysius John and Mildred Augusta (Fox) Lucius.  On August 24, 1963, he married Dorothy Smith and she preceded him in death on March 29, 2022.

Survivors include his son, Craig (Ellen) Lucius of Tiffin, daughters, Connie (Dan) Nielsen, Lisa (Steve) Smith and Nicki (Matt) Rumschlag, all of Tiffin; daughter-in-law, Teresa Lucius of Bloomington, IN; brothers, Harold (Patricia) Lucius and Herman (Patricia) Lucius, both of Tiffin; sisters, Viola (John) Ink, Leona (John) Mogle, Oleta (Thomas) Miller, Inez Lauterbur all of Tiffin; Marie Priddy of Delaware, OH;  nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronald J. Lucius; brothers, Vincent W. Lucius, Joseph Lucius, Leonard Lucius and Mark Lucius; and sisters, Theresa Ziegler, and Mary Jo Cramer.

Ralph was a man of strong faith.  He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and attended New Riegel High School.  He worked at Hayes-Albion and Excell Wire and Cable until it closed.  He was the founder and co-owner with his wife of Lucius Fence for years until his retirement.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, enjoyed watching Calvert sports, Square Dancing, and getting together with family.  Ralph was passionate about raising, breeding and showing Checkered Giant Rabbits.  Throughout the years he traveled the United States to rabbit shows.  He was a member and inducted into the Sandusky Valley Rabbit Breeders Association’s Hall of Fame and the American Checkered Giant Rabbit Club Hall of Fame and a member of the Ohio Checkered Rabbit Breeders Club.

His Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Rader officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial for Ralph and Dorothy will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.  The Mass will be live streamed at www.stmarychurch.com.
