Raymond Gaietto Obituary

Raymond P. Gaietto, 86, of Tiffin, died on Wednesday morning, September 8, 2021 at Bridge Hospice Findlay Care Center.

He was born on June 19, 1935, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Peter and Teresa (Sabolo) Gaietto.  On May 30, 1960, in St. Mary Catholic Church, he married Mary Frances Dariano.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Gaietto of Tiffin; son, Mark (Patty) Gaietto of Clyde; daughters, Denise (Scott) Clark of Dublin and Rachel Gaietto of Tiffin; and six grandchildren, Emily (Aaron) Baugher of Delaware, Jason Clark of Gahanna, Kennedy Gaietto of Clyde, Marisa Gaietto of Clyde, Logan Zieber of Clyde and Kory Zieber of Bellevue.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Beth Gaietto; brothers, Michael Gaietto, James Gaietto and Paul Gaietto; and sisters, Lucy Marra and Antoinette Smith.

Raymond graduated in 1953 from Calvert High School, in 1959 from the University of Detroit and in 1972 from Bowling Green State University.  He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957.

After graduating from the University of Detroit, he took a job teaching in Attica, and he later became a guidance counselor at Seneca East Junior High.  Raymond was also a secondary supervisor for the county office.  In 1976, he became the superintendent for Seneca County schools where he retired from in 1987.

 After retirement, Raymond worked part-time at Heidelberg College as well as substituting as an administrator in various school districts in the area.  He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he was involved in many church activities and co-chaired the capital improvements drive in 1988.  He was very active in the community, where he was a past member of Betty Jane Rehabilitation Center Board of Directors from 1983 to 1988, serving as President for two years and vice-president for two years, Seneca County Museum Foundation and Advisory Board, serving as president and vice president, Seneca County Agricultural Society (Fair Board) from 1984 to 1987, Kiwanis Manor, serving on their Board of Directors from 1976-1989 and was appointed to the Terra Technical College Board of Trustees in 1990.  Raymond enjoyed making woodworking projects for others, cross stitching old-fashioned Santas and making his own frames for them, and he loved the latest gadgets.

His Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Rev. Gary Walters officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Friends may visit with the family from 6 – 8:00 P.M. on Monday, September 13, 2021 at the funeral home.  The family encourages everyone to wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Bridge Hospice Care, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
