Richard "Butch" Zoeller Obituary

Richard A. “Butch” Zoeller, 74, of Tiffin, passed away as a result of a car accident, on Friday morning, June 17, 2022.

He was born on February 2, 1948 in Tiffin to Alfred and Luella (Fredritz) Zoeller.  On December 11, 1971, he married Ruth A. Gaietto and she preceded him in death on October 5, 2018.

He is survived by his son, Randall A. (Kelly) Zoeller of Tiffin; daughter, Rachel A. (Adrian) Palomo of Wickliffe; two grandchildren, Maximus and Cordelia Palomo; brothers, James (Sandy) Zoeller, Daniel (Holly) Zoeller, Charles (Jenny) Zoeller and Kenneth (Rose) Zoeller all of Tiffin; sisters, Joanne Volny of OR, Jenny Frankart of New Riegel and Ruth (Paul) Platt of FL; brother in law, Charles Schiro of FL; and his cat, Smokey.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 47 years, Ruth; sister, Mary Lou Schiro; and brother in law, Norbert Volny.

Butch was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a graduate of Tiffin Calvert.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army January 23, 1968, serving in Vietnam and was honorably discharged January 14, 1971.  He worked at American Standard for over 25 years and was an owner/operator of Zoeller Trucking for a few years, hauling asphalt for various companies around the area.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he bowled and played Euchre, Tiffin Eagles and Tiffin Moose, and AmVets Post 48.  Over the years, he enjoyed camping, visiting historical sites, national parks, hunting, fishing, trips to Key West, working on his Mopars, attending car shows and he drag raced for many years. Butch loved his family, spending time with and teaching his grandchildren to drive a tractor and the Mule.  Most of all, he missed his wife, Ruth.

His Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 24, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will be at a later date in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military honors by the Seneca County United Veterans Council.
