Rita Brown Obituary

 

Rita C. Brown, 83, of Tiffin, passed away Thursday evening, July 23, 2020 at Tiffin Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. Rita was born in Fostoria on April 28, 1937 to the late Alvin and Regina (Hoover) Depinet.  Rita married Eugene (Gene) R. Brown on February 23, 1957 at St. Aloysius Church in Republic.

Rita is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Eugene and daughters Christine (Gary) Geise of Perrysburg, Theresa (Gerald) Niedermier of Republic and son Dennis Brown (Tershanda Farahjian) of Heath.  Survivors also include her loving grandchildren Derek (Morgan) Niedermier, Aaron (Jenny) Geise, Curtis (Andrea) Niedermier, Shawn Geise and Alison (Brad) Basilone.  Rita’s pride and joy were her great grandchildren Adalyn and Kailyn Niedermier, Rainey and Gene Niedermier, Eleanor and Nathaniel Geise and Braxten and Brynlee Basilone as well as step great granddaughters Naudia and Allessandra Basilone.  Surviving extended family includes Earl Joseph (Pat) Depinet and Paul (Jane) Depinet, Sister in Law Phyllis (Richard) Miller and Bev Brown.  Special friends Mary Lou Reiter, Charlotte Brickner and Wanda Stevenson.

Rita is proceeded in death by her parents Alvin and Regina Depinet and in laws Edmund and Loretta Brown, grandson Andrew (Andy) Niedermier and great granddaughter Abriana Basilone, sisters and brother in laws Florence and Virgil Brose, Alma and Robert Brandt, Ruth and Orland Schreiner, Kathy and Dwight Kimble and brother and sister in laws Robert and Millie Depinet and Richard and Rosie Depinet, brother in law Edward Brown and close friend Joyce Wadams.

Rita graduated from Republic High School in 1955 and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Tiffin. She worked at The White Company in New Washington and babysat for many local Attica and Republic families throughout the years.  Her love of children showed in the way she shared her passion for board games, card games, dominos, music and crafts.  She loved her red roses and watching her birds especially cardinals, blue jays and hummingbirds. She was a great cook, baker and seamstress and collector of dolls, angels and knickknacks.  In her recent years she truly enjoyed looking through her many family photo albums and loved showing pictures and bragging about her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 12:00 Noon at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Rader officiating.  Burial will follow in Farewell Retreat Cemetery in Republic.

Friends may visit and share stories on Thursday from 10-11:30 AM at the Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424..  The family requests masks be worn during visitation.

 Memorial contributions may be made to the local Alzheimer’s Association, The Willows of Tiffin, Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, Allen Eiry Senior Center or organization of donor’s choice.

The family of Rita would like to thank Mark and Tina for their unending support, assistance and love over the past few years as mom’s Alzheimer’s progressed.  We also wish to thank The Willows of Tiffin for their excellent care and affection for mom the short time she was in their care.  Thank you to the doctors and nurses of ICU at Tiffin Mercy for their professional care and compassion to mom and to the family. To the Teakwood Drive neighborhood, thank you for looking out for both mom and dad, knowing they were among friends has always been reassuring. Finally, thank you to family and friends who stopped in to visit, called, sent messages and lifted up prayers, we can never repay your kindness and loving support.
