Rita M. (Kummerer) Schank

Rita Marie Schank, 97, of Tiffin, made her final journey on September 14, 2022 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 11, 1925, east of Carey, the youngest daughter of the late John and Lenora (Fox) Kummerer.  On August 17, 1946, she married Arthur R. Schank at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin.  He preceded her in death on January 8, 2010.

She is survived by three sons, Harold Schank and Ronald (Susan) Schank, both of Tiffin and Albert (Maureen) Schank of Parker, CO; three daughters, Kathleen (Donald) Weaver of Republic, Marie (Ken) Schroth and Barbara (Eugene C.) Goshe, both of Tiffin; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Joseph (Audrey) Kummerer, Louis (Mary) Kummerer and John (Dorothy) Kummerer; four sisters, Ruth Kummerer, Agnes (Walter) Reiter, Mary Alice (Ralph) Schank and Freda (Daryl) Beard; granddaughter, Lauryn Schank-Hyden; grandson, Nicholas Schank; and daughter-in-law, Dianne Schank.

Rita was a 1943 graduate of Calvert High School, a homemaker, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, its Rosary Alter Society, Daughters of Isabella and past president of the Know Your Neighbors Farm Women Club.

She enjoyed gardening, baking cookies and attending the sports events and school functions of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

There will be no visitation. 

Her Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony Coci officiating and her nephew, Rev. Timothy Kummerer preaching.  A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin or Calvert Catholic Schools.
