Shirley C. (Corthell) Scheerer

Shirley C. Scheerer, 85 of Tiffin, passed away Friday evening, December 3, 2021, at Mercy Health-Tiffin Hospital.

On November 24, 1936, in Sandusky County, she was born to Gilbert and Dora (Runion) Corthell.  She married James L. Scheerer on August 3, 1968, and he preceded her in death in 2007.

Survivors include a daughter, Sue (Dave Riley) Walters of Lake Havasu City, AZ; and a sister, Donna Mackling and sister-in-law Janet Corthell both of Tiffin; grandog, Bonz; many nieces and nephews and close friends, PJ and Doug Newlove of Tiffin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Bill Corthell; brother-in-law, George Mackling, and her dog, Scotty.

Shirley graduated from Green Springs High School in 1954 and worked at Good’s Office Supply for 10 years and as a Manager for Columbia Gas for over 30 years, later retiring and volunteered at Autumnwood for years.  Shirley loved golfing with her friends around the area and in Florida and had two holes in one.  She enjoyed traveling around the world, cruises, fishing and wintered in Florida for years.  Shirley was an Ohio State fan, member of the Tiffin Moose and Eagles and former member of the Tiffin AmVets Auxiliary.

Her funeral will be Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory.  Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge (Egbert’s) Cemetery.

Friends may visit and share stories with the family on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
