Theresa M. (Metzger) Schindler

Theresa M. Schindler, 93, of Oxford and formerly of New Riegel, passed away on Saturday morning, October 30, 2021 in Oxford, Ohio.

She was born on March 12, 1928, in Berwick, Ohio, to Frank B. and Olivia C. (Schlachter) Metzger.  On April 23, 1949, she married Raymond A. Schindler.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond A. Schindler of Oxford; daughter, Linda (Michael) Berger of Harrison; brother, Jack (Carolyn) Metzger of Toledo; sisters, Rosanna “Nan” Hohman of Vermillion and Donna Durbin of Sandusky; and grandchildren, Zachary Berger and Lindsey (Jordan) Nuhring.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Francis “Fritz” Metzger, Cyril “Sonny” Metzger and Mark “Mac” Metzger; and sisters, Rita DeRose, Lucy Flechtner, Marcia Gerber, Gertrude Hess and Betty Metzger.

Theresa was born and raised in New Riegel, graduated in 1946 from New Reigel High School.  After marrying, Raymond, they moved to Hillsboro, then to Fremont for 17 years, Marietta for 17 years, Harrison for 17 years and has been living in Oxford for the past two years.  She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Oxford, a member of Rosary Altar Society and Ladies Group and was very active in Church.  She enjoyed bowling, bird watching, The Ohio State Buckeye’s, wintering in Clearwater Beach in Florida for over 20 years, traveling the United States and World, loved her pets, especially her bird, Cuddles and was famous for her potato salad.  Theresa never had a bad word about anyone and was gentle and kind.

Her Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at All Saints Parish, New Riegel with Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial will follow in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-7:00 P.M. on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass on Saturday at Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or to All Saints Parish.
