Thomas B. Rider, 66, passed away peacefully at his home in Findlay, OH on Friday, November 10, 2023.
He was born in Tiffin, on April 22, 1957, to Dolores (Clouse) and Urban Steinmetz, Jr. After his dad passed, he was later adopted by his stepdad, Eugene Rider. He married Teresa Mareches in 1984, but they later divorced.
Surviving are his four children, Jacob (Ashley) Rider of Arlington, Jean (Alex) Merecicky of Marysville, Emily (Dennis Beard) Rider of Tiffin and Nathan (Katie Jones) Rider of Tecumseh, MI; brother, Gary (Mary) Rider of Tiffin; two sisters, Lisa (Jim) Taylor of Cincinnati and Kathy (Greg) Frederick of Mill Spring, NC; four grandchildren, Addisyn, Averi, Hadley and Henry; many nieces and nephews; and six great nieces and nephews. They all enjoyed him sending a special birthday gift and card. Tom is also survived by a few aunts, uncles, and several cousins. He had a love for German Shepherds, especially the late Mattie and Molly, his constant companion.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Tom graduated from Columbian High School in 1976, served in the U.S. Marine Corp (CH-53 Helo Mech), received an electrical engineer degree from Terra Tech, and worked many years for AEP. Throughout the years, he enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson and going on poker runs with friends. He lived in Lima then moved to Findlay in 2004.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 17, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony Coci officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.
