My heart sank as I drove past the Sheriff's Office and saw a cruiser parked on the lawn under the American Flag at half mast. I stopped in and learned of Bill's untimely passing. I knew Bill only through our professional relationship, but the Bill I knew was devoted to serve Seneca County with pride and professionalism. My sympathy goes out to all who knew and loved him. May his dedication to public service spread like wildfire.

To the Herrig family,
I was very blessed to have Bill as my supervisor at the SCSO. Many happy memories of this man and his true compassion to help others. He spoke of his family often with pride. The few times we argued was over the OSU/Michigan game and why did he like Jeff Gordan..lol. He was such a strong man of faith and I will never forget our talks. I am sending all of my thoughts and prayers to you.

Tammy and family:

I grew up with Bill on the north end of Tiffin (Ohio Avenue & Charles Street) We spent many youthfull hours together. Later We would both join the Tiffin Boy Rangers and extend our friendship. I was Bill's First Sgt. on the Sheriff's Office when he came on board. It was an honor to have Bill and his many talants to draw from. He was one of the most kind and reasonable men who ever served as a Deputy Sheriff. He is with our Lord now and Heven has a new Angle. He has earned his place with our Lord. We will miss him but we can all hang onto the promise of reuniting with him some day. May God bless all of you in this difficult time. Hold on stronly to your memories of Bill. It is within the memories that he will always live in your hearts.

In HIS service,

Rick Spencer

Bill was the true definition of a public servant. He performed so many tasks and roles during his career. Bill tried his best to help people in whatever role he was serving.

I was fortunate to work with Bill for about 25 years on EMS. I remember how proud he was when Tiffin became an Advanced Life Support Squad and he was a paramedic. A goal of always trying to provide the best patient care to someone in need.

I consider myself lucky to have known Bill. I will miss him and my condolences go to his family.
